This is a meal that can be prepared in under 1/2 hour - gotta love those ones! I used light cream (5% milk fat), added sauteed mushrooms, onions and garlic as suggested by other reviewers, and used homemade pesto made from this site. I made penne pasta and mixed the cream sauce with shrimp in with the pasta before serving. Tasty! Thanks for the recipe, Loretta.

Very good recipe. Like others, I used half and half instead of heavy cream and less butter to cut down the fat. I also used smoked gouda cheese because it's what I had, added mushrooms (that were sauteed before), onions and garlic to sauce. It was a huge hit with everyone. This is a great starter recipe. I want to try it with chicken or the crab like suggested. Thank you!

This recipe was outstanding!!! Very easy, very quick and extremely tasty!! I didn't have to make too many changes at all. I followed "Weelassie's" advice and added fresh garlic and green onions. I also added my cheese slowly. I didn't take it off the heat, I just lowered the temp while adding it, constantly stirring. I also used an extremely tasty sun-dried tomato pesto by Classico. Oh yeah, I did marinate the shrimp for a couple of hours with a little basalmic vinegar and a few seasonings. Go with what YOU know for the marinade if you decide to marinate at all. Served with "Baked Tomatoes Oregano" from this website and a nice Italian bread, which you may want to dip in the creamy sauce (I put extra sauce on my plate just for this reason). It may seem like a lot but once you cut up your garlic and green onions, the whole process takes 20 min. Excellent recipe Loretta and thanks for the help Weelassie!! BAYOU GATOR OOOUUUTTT!!

Loved it! Very tasty. I made a lower fat version using 1 c. 1% milk, 1 c half/half cream, margarine instead of butter and added a little cornstarch to thicken it up. I also added cremini mushrooms and used freshly grated parmesan reggiano. It was truly excellent!

This was great recipe... I put some of everyones ideas into one, some red bell peppers, green bell peppers, and mushrooms all in a pan and seasoned them with some cayenne pepper, garlic power, onion power, some Tony's and cook them till they were done and then I threw in the shrimp till they were cooked. And made my own pesto. Then followed the recipe after wards.... Great recipe I already cooked it TWICE!

Awesome. But can you go wrong with cream, cheese, and shrimp? I didn't think so.

Awesome! You don't need to add flour, just spend the time reducing the butter cream mixture ( I used 1/2 heavy cream and 1/2 1%). I used my own pesto -- 2 cups basil, 1/2 cup parmesean, 1/2 pine nuts, and 1/2 cup olive oil and garlic to taste -- 2 or 3 cloves. I did add garlic to the butter, sauteed, then added the cream/milk.

This was a bit of a treat, considering it's a big bowl of butter, cream, and cheese. Very deliciously indulgent. I added some mushrooms to the butter and bit of flour before adding the cream to thicken the sauce a bit. Next time I think I will cook the shrimp separately and then add to the sauce last to ensure they don't get overcooked buried in the dense sauce.

This stuff was really great. I sauteed 3 small cloves of garlic and sliced mushrooms with the butter. It wouldn't have been as good without them. Also, I think one could easily cut down the amount of butter just a bit. Also, I think next time I will cook the shrimp separately instead of in the sauce and then toss them in to coat, because due to the thickness and color of the sauce it was almost hard to tell when the shrimp were cooked through. I didn't want to overcook them but certainly didn't want to undercook them either. And oh yeah, i used half and half instead of cream and multigrain penne pasta. Great flavor!

I used half & half instead of cream and added much more half and half than the recipe called for in order to have enough sauce to feed a family of six. I also used 2#'s of shrimp and added sliced mushrooms.
